Friends...

So yesterday I threw yet another party on my porch. Maybe it's becoming a bit redundant but I can't get enough of it! I love throwing a fun, relaxed, come as you are party for my friends. I've never been the one to make and keep forever friends. What I mean is, I've never had like a constant "best friend" since childhood. My friends come and go, usually as I do. I am a movin' fool so I make friends, we are good, I move and the friendship kind of dies. I'm not really sure why.
Anyway, this is something about me that I would like to change and am trying really hard to do it. Right now I have the most fantastic friends that anyone could ever ask for! Angela, Swapp, Shauntae, Melissa, Abram, Sam, Johnny, Alex, Joey, Kate...just to name a few, These are GOOD people. I mean, talk about cream of the crop!
Yesterday I was stressing quite a bit getting ready for the party and my friends came in and saved the day. They probably don't know or even realize how much that meant to me. Thanks guys :) I definitely love you.

Lets have a toast....

This blog is dedicated to those men who for some reason have chosen to put themselves in the douchebag corner of my life. You know who you are. Asking for the "exclusive pics", wanting only a ncmo and then bam off you run and the ever so special guilting me into giving you what you want.

Here's to you. Here's to the confusion, the heartbreak, the anger and tears. Here's to those nights waking up to your stupid texts. Here's to ever thinking you were what I wanted.

Here's to you. I'm running away.

Celtic rain in the park

Tonight I needed a bit of fresh air. So like any girl with a beach cruiser, I hopped aboard and went looking for an adventure. The air was crisp and the sky was a glorious display of sun drenched storm clouds. I was giggling like a little girl as I rode my mint green cruiser across the grass and onto the sidewalk.
As I rode, without my trusty ipod if you will believe it, I heard the magical sound of bagpipes dancing on the air and it plucked at my scotch/irish heartstrings the way only celtic magic can. I pulled up, parked near a bench and decided that tonight was going to be one to remember!

The music was fun, spirited and obviously the musicians were very talented. But then Utah showed it's sense of humor and decided to rain. It was a light sprinkle that had a playful personality. I am a rain enthusiast. So when it rains, there is music, I'm outside and the sun is still shining? You can't buy a better evening!
I think these are the evenings you remember for a long time. I wish more people could see the beauty in these open air concerts. But then again they would become over run and most likely no longer be free to the public. Bitter with the sweet, eh?

Sunday Afternoon Picnics

If you are in Salt Lake, you've probably noticed the glorious rain storms we have been having today! Oh! I love summer rain storms! Is there anything more fun? I dare you to show me something more relaxing than a rainstorm, on a Sunday, in the summer when you have nothing else to do but sit by a window. Or under a gazebo on top of a 9 story apartment building with great company. It pretty much takes the cake!
So that's what we did today. Sam, Abram, Shauntae, Rachel and myself had a perfectly adorable picnic on top of the Garden Tower apartment in downtown Salt Lake. It was GORGEOUS. I made trifle, my first, and Abram brought his delicious strawberry jam. We had sandwiches, trifle, salad and lots of laughs.
Life doesn't get much better than living in downtown Salt Lake with friends like mine for company.

We loved the trifle (thanks mom) and we are all a little obsessed with this house. Isn't it amazing?

Brunch on the Porch

Once upon a time there was a girl in Salt Lake City named Kayla Wilcox. She loved parties and even more than that, she loved hosting them. One day she decided to start a beautiful tradition on her street called "Brunch on the Porch". This would include yummy foods, beautiful company and lots of pictures.
This is Swapp. We roadtripped together and plan on doing it again.

Naturally she invited her neighbors, co-workers and Wyoming roadtrip buds to come along and experience just how fun summer brunches outside can be.

This is Kayla. She loves being a hostess and is looking forward to throwing even more parties! I think she gets this from her mom. And maybe from he friends Hilary and Kristen. Last summer, she spent time at multiple parties, all of them a lot of fun and all of them in Provo. Who knew that Provo would provide the education she would need to become a hostess? Stranger things have happened.

What would a party be without the man power to clean up after? These are Kayla's neighbors. All of them single, all of them fun and all of them amazing for picking up after the brunch. It was pretty incredible of them.

So in the end, "Brunch on the Porch" was a success and will be followed up by "Bar-b-Q on the Porch", "Dessert on the Porch", "Dance party on the Porch" and maybe even "Popsicle party on the Porch". When you have a porch, the possibilities are endless.

Decorating my room.

As some of you may or may not know, I have moved yet again. That makes 3 homes in the last 7 months. And if we want to get REALLY technical, that would be 7 homes, 3 cities and 2 countries in the last year. Oh yeah, it's getting a little ridiculous. I can't say why I've moved so many times in such a small amount of time. I feel all were necessary, but I've met very few people who have done the same.
I have met people recently who have lived in an apartment for up to 4 years at a time! 4 years! Can you even imagine? I have friends who are looking to buy their first house and I get this panic feeling in my chest even trying to think about being tied down to something that large! That is commitment and a half. I had a hard time committing to a bed frame and my own mattresses. Imagine me trying to commit to a HOUSE. You can't load that in the back of the truck every few months.
